Back Together Again!
May was filled with activity at Ritual. Castor excited all of us with his broken shoulder, Shawn took off for a little R&R at Lake Chelan and then Lindi one-upped everyone with a trip down the isle in Las Vegas. With all of the trips to the doctor and plans leading up to the wedding and then off to Vegas to tie the knot, we barely knew if we were coming or going.
We’re happy to report that Castor is back in the salon doing his magic, Shawn is back home for a second, and the lovely Mrs. Zimmerman has returned from nothing less than a completely restful and fabulous honeymoon to Cancun. So, the Ritual family is back together again, ready to take on your hair challenges!
Wedding Bells
Ritual’s lovely Lindi is officially married off!
Pre-wedding festivities took place at Margaritaville on the strip in Las Vegas where nachos and beverages were consumed in large quantities, and serious dancing fun was had by all.
The next day, the wedding took place pool side in the sand at Tahiti Village Resort in Las Vegas. It was a tropical paradise, complete with palm trees, tiki lights and a nearly full moon. The ceremony was touching, with a tribute to Dan’s father and Lindi’s grandparents.
The newlyweds shared a delicious meal at Tommy Bahama’s with their guests and then the die-hards proceeded on to Blue Martini, where they enjoyed VIP service in a private alcove. Fun was in abundance during all of the wedding festivities!
The Zimmermans are now off on their honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico, enjoying some rest and relaxation together.
We want to send a big congratulations to both Lindi & Dan.
May you be less in love today, than you are tomorrow!
Sea Salt Spray
These issues became the catalyst that began my search for a product that might combat the fluff. I am getting more and more pressure to flaunt my locks at work, as a stylist I should showcase my ability to be stylish, instead of hiding my mass of fluff under an extensive collection of hats, therefore, I needed a product that would not weigh my light and fluffy hair down, but would also control it and keep me from looking ridiculous. A while back the salon got a few new Session Series products from Catwalk to try, one of them being a salt spray. Other product lines call it an ocean spray, sea salt spray, or beach spray…but a rose is still a rose right?
This product does a great job of making my hair feel coarse and thick, even dirty; just as if I had spent the day swimming in the ocean. This may not sound all that good, but trust me it is. By making the hair coarse, it is less fluffy and has less fly-a-ways. By making it feel thick, it makes it appear fuller and more stiff so it doesn’t fall flat and has more volume. As for the dirty…well that just means you can still tell there is product in the hair, but I am willing to deal with that since it makes it more of a full styled look as opposed to a dried dandelion head in the wind. It works best if you blow dry right after spraying, and remember this product alters the texture of the hair from smooth and flat to course and full, and though it has a bit of a hold quality, some hair spray may be needed once you get your hair the way you want it.

Balayage & Ombre
Hair color techniques have changed over the years, allowing stylists to create new looks for their clients. Remember the days of having a choice of either a solid color or a frosting cap? If you had long hair and wanted to add some highlights, you were in for a world of torture to achieve an inconsistent, at best, streaks of color.
When the ombre’ and balayage color techniques came on the scene, hairstylists everywhere rejoiced. Both of these techniques give an artistic freedom that we had only previously dreamed about. Custom color placement, applied freehand.
If you’ve been getting a standard head of highlights, you should consider an ombre’ or balayage, or better yet, a combined version of the two. The results are nothing short of fabulous!
